Texto · parte 1 de 3

Last spring, I signed up for a traditional cooking workshop in a small town abroad. I had never cooked with a wood stove, so I felt out of my comfort zone. Still, I wanted to learn how local families prepared their everyday meals. The class turned out to be one of the best parts of my trip.

Our teacher, Mara, welcomed us into her family kitchen and walked us through each step. She explained that her grandmother had passed down the recipes through several generations. To my surprise, the hardest task was not making the dough. It was learning to judge the heat without using a thermometer. Mara said that experienced cooks could feel when the pan was ready.

Everything went well because the group worked together. One visitor chopped vegetables, while another watched the fire. I made a few mistakes, but Mara told me that mistakes were part of learning. At first, the busy kitchen felt a bit overwhelming. Later, I relaxed and began enjoying the smells, sounds, and friendly conversation.

After the meal, Mara said that visitors often hurried through the recipe. She suggested that we should slow down and notice the small details. I agree with her now. If I did it again, I would arrive earlier and ask more questions. I would also spend an extra day in the town, because I would like to learn another family recipe.
