Eduard Mörike: books in German
Eduard Mörike (1804–1875) was a German poet and storyteller born in Ludwigsburg in Swabia. He was a village pastor for some years, but, shy and in poor health, he left the church and taught literature at a girls’ school in Stuttgart. His musical, delicate poems were set to music by composers such as Hugo Wolf. The novella Mozart’s Journey to Prague is his best-known work in prose.
