Iginio Ugo Tarchetti: books in Italian

Iginio Ugo Tarchetti (1839–1869) was a Piedmontese writer of the Milanese Scapigliatura, a group of young rebel artists who scorned middle-class life. He served as an army officer, gave up that career and lived in poverty in Milan, writing for newspapers. His fantastic tales, full of ghosts and mystery, recall those of Edgar Allan Poe. He died of typhus at thirty.
